Carmina Burana — Ballett Dortmund
The Ballett Dortmund, one of Germany's oldest dance companies (founded in 1904), comes to the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía to reinterpret Carl Orff's celebrated scenic cantata «Carmina Burana» through contemporary dance. The choreography and concept are by Edward Clug, with set design by Marko Japelj, costumes by Leo Kulaš and lighting by Tomaž Premzl, in a production built around circular formations that evoke the wheel of fortune and the cycles of existence. On stage, the dancers of the Ballett Dortmund are joined by the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana and the Cor de la Generalitat (led by Jordi Blanch Tordera), with three vocal soloists from the Opernhaus Dortmund, under the musical direction of Olivia Lee-Gundermann. Performances take place in the Sala Principal of Les Arts on Thursday 25 and Friday 26 June at 7:30 pm, and on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 June at 7:00 pm, running approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes. It is part of Les Arts' 20th anniversary season, with tickets available from €35.
