Exhibition «Dance! The Art of Moving» in Valencia
Add to calendar
More plans that weekend
An interactive exhibition that turns the museum into a huge dance floor, divided into three areas: Spin, Jump and Gather. It includes a Dancing Ring to learn waltz, bran and disco steps, and sensors that transform movements into digital avatars.
The exhibition is open now and in no hurry: it is scheduled to run until January 2028. Admission is listed at 7.60 €.
How it works
It is split into three areas — Spin, Jump and Gather — and it is participatory rather than a set of glass cases: you move, the room responds. There is a Dancing Ring where you learn waltz, bran and disco steps, and sensors that turn your movements into a digital avatar on screen. It is one of the few exhibitions where looking silly is the point, which makes it work with children and, more unusually, with teenagers.
Where it is
The Science Museum is part of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, at Avinguda Professor López Piñero 7 — the long white building that looks like a skeleton, between the Hemisfèric and the Oceanogràfic. From the centre, the easiest approach is to cycle down the Turia riverbed park: the old river was diverted after a flood and the bed is now a flat, car-free green corridor that runs straight to the complex. Metro and city buses also serve it; there is paid parking on site that fills up at weekends.
Fitting it into a day
The museum itself takes a few hours, so treat this exhibition as part of a visit rather than the reason for one. Next door, the Umbracle is free to walk through. Travelling with children, València with kids has the rest of the city's options, and it also appears in what to do when it rains.
