Avelino Marín Collection Exhibition in València
Discover the art collection of Avelino Marín and Luis Leao, with over 1800 pieces, on display at the CCCC until September 27, 2026, under the title «Brief History of a Passion». The exhibition is distributed over four rooms and is open from Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00, with free admission.
It is free, it is very large, and it is in the right building for it: the Centre del Carme occupies a former convent with two cloisters, and the collection spreads across four rooms. It stays up until 27 September, Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 to 20:00 — long enough to come back twice, which with this much material is the sensible way to see it.
What the collection is
More than 1,800 pieces gathered by Avelino Marín and Luis Leao, shown under the title «Breve historia de una pasión» — a brief history of an obsession. Our source does not list the artists or describe the rooms one by one, so if you are hunting a particular work, check the official page. For a first visit, allow a good hour. Since there is no ticket, there is no pressure to finish it in one go.
Where it is and how to get there
Carrer Museu 2, in the middle of the Carme quarter. This is a pedestrian area of narrow streets: walk from the centre in ten to fifteen minutes, or cycle. Driving in is a mistake. Two practical notes for August — the Carme at nine in the morning is a different city from the Carme at two in the afternoon, and a whole convent under a roof solves a rainy morning.
The rest of the morning, at no cost
The IVAM is two blocks away, and the Torres de Quart, which you can climb, are almost opposite. If you are stringing together free plans, the full list is in free museums in València and free things to do in the city. General opening details for the venue are on our Centre del Carme page.
