Roma in Miniature Exhibition in Valencia

The show sits inside Museo L'Iber, which is half the reason to go: a collection of historical miniatures housed in the old Malferit palace on Carrer Cavallers, in the middle of the walled old town. You move through it far more slowly than you expect.

What the visit is actually like

With more than 2,000 figures devoted to Rome, this is not a ten-minute stop. Allow a good hour if you read the labels and more with children. It's a glass-case museum: close looking, a lot of standing, few places to sit. L'Iber keeps limited opening hours that shift with the season, and like most museums here it may close in the middle of the day — check the official page before you walk over. Admission for this exhibition is listed at 8 €.

Getting there without a car

Carrer Cavallers is pedestrian for much of the day and the old town is a restricted-traffic zone, so driving in is the worst option. The Túria and Àngel Guimerà metro stops are both under ten minutes' walk, and it's a short stroll from the Mercat Central. If you do drive, the car parks sit on the ring road around the centre, not inside it.

What else is within five minutes

The Torres de Quart are around the corner, and you're on the edge of El Carme, the old quarter that is far more bearable in the late afternoon than anything outdoors. It also makes a solid backup for a rainy day — indoors, cool, and independent of the weather.
