Les Arts is Symphonic - Anja Bihlmaier
More plans that weekend
What's on this weekend in València →Enjoy the inaugural concert of the season "Les Arts is Symphonic" on September 13, 2026 at 20:00 at the Palau de les Arts, with conductor Anja Bihlmaier and works by Mussorgsky, Ravel and Tchaikovsky.
This is the opening concert of the Palau de les Arts symphonic season, on 13 September 2026 at 20:00. The Palau is the opera house at the eastern end of the Turia gardens, part of the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències complex on Avinguda del Professor López Piñero — indoors and air-conditioned, a long way in feel from an outdoor summer festival. Anja Bihlmaier conducts; the programme lists Mussorgsky, Ravel and Tchaikovsky. Running order, interval and duration are on the theatre's own page.
Getting there, and when to arrive
The nicest approach from the centre is on foot or by bike along the sunken Turia riverbed park: about forty minutes walking, fifteen by bike, with no traffic to cross. Metro and city buses reach the Ciutat de les Arts area, and it is still a five to ten minute walk across open, shadeless ground from the stop — see getting around València. If you drive, check where to park first. Arrive early: at symphonic concerts latecomers are normally held outside until a break in the music. Halls here are cooled hard, so bring a light layer even on a warm night, and note that audiences dress smart-casual rather than formal.
Before the concert
The rest of the complex is next door: the Hemisfèric, the science museum and the Umbracle, a covered palm walkway that looks out over the whole complex and is at its best around sunset. For indoor options earlier in the day, the museums guide covers opening hours and free-entry days.
