"Music and Mathematics. A Sonic Journey from Chaos to the Cosmos" is an interactive exhibition at CaixaForum València that explores the inseparable bond between the two disciplines, from the physics of sound and instrument-making to rhythm and tonal harmony. The journey is organised around seven concepts —inspired by the seven notes of the scale— and features more than 20 interactive modules and around fifteen audiovisuals: visualising the waves of vibrating strings, imitating the timbre of instruments, or composing harmonious sounds. Highlights include Pythagoras and his monochord, the golden ratio, Mozart's dice game, the mechanics of hearing, and "cosmic music" based on Johannes Kepler, with installations such as a giant monochord and a composition machine. The exhibition can be visited until 23 August 2026 at CaixaForum València, in the Ciutat de les Arts i les Ciències, with the usual opening hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. General admission is 6 € (with reduced rates and free entry for CaixaBank customers). The scientific advisors are Magda Polo and Carlos Calderón, and the interactive elements were created by artist Michael Bradke.
