Turandot, Giacomo Puccini's final and monumental opera, closes the season at the Palau de les Arts Reina Sofía in its Sala Principal (Main Hall), with performances from 3 to 16 June 2026 (3, 6, 8, 11, 13 and 16 June; the 16 June show begins at 7:30 pm). The production, which comes from Tokyo's New National Theatre and the Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, is staged by director Àlex Ollé (La Fura dels Baus), with set design by Alfons Flores, costumes by Lluc Castells and lighting by Urs Schönebaum, offering a futuristic reading that sets aside the traditional exoticism to explore the psychological dimension of the characters and the theme of power. The acclaimed Sir Mark Elder conducts the Orquestra de la Comunitat Valenciana and the theatre's choirs. The cast is led by mezzo-soprano Ekaterina Semenchuk as the icy Princess Turandot and tenor Gregory Kunde as Prince Calaf, alongside Carolina López Moreno (Liù) and Liang Li (Timur), in an evening that includes the famous aria "Nessun dorma." The performance runs approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes, and tickets can be purchased on the official Les Arts website.
