Barranco del Nacimiento
Steep ravine above Millares with a hiking trail, an abseiling variant, rock-art shelters and castle detour.
The Barranco del Nacimiento is a steep-sided ravine above Millares, in the Canal de Navarrés, combining a hiking trail with a canyoning and abseiling variant. The same route passes rock-art shelters, an upstream reservoir and a water-cut cave, with a detour to the castle, starting in Millares village.
Canyoning variant caution
The wet variant needs ropes, harness and wet gear, and seasonal water levels must be checked before starting: it is not a casual extension of the walk. Go only with people trained in abseiling and leave the ravine at any sign of rising water or upstream storm. The Quesa side is the natural approach road.
Hiking and heritage
The dry hiking variant is a moderate walk of about 4 hours, not suited to small children, best in spring and autumn with summer heat and storms avoided. You get there by car. Carry water, boots and sun cover, and respect the rock-art shelters without touching the paintings.
