Castillo de Jalance
An 11th-century castle built over an Iberian settlement, on the hill that overlooks Jalance. It keeps stretches of wall, remains of towers and the base of the keep; the enclosure, with an irregular plan, had almost 200 metres of wall and eight semicircular towers. The celoquia and the albacara used as a refuge can be distinguished.
The Castillo de Jalance goes back to the 11th century and was built over the ruins of an Iberian settlement, on the hill that overlooks the locality. The wall measured almost 200 metres and was defended by eight semicircular towers. The celoquia, or raised central part, and the albacara used as a refuge can be distinguished. The enclosure preserves stretches of wall, remains of towers and the base of the keep. Those elements make it possible to reconstruct the defensive organisation of the castle and its relationship with the terrain.
