The Museo del Yeso opened on 12 April 2008 and is located at number 11 of the plaza del Mesón, beneath the foundations of the church of San Miguel Arcángel. It displays objects and audiovisual material devoted to gypsum, the emblematic industry of Soneja. That activity came to be concentrated in a single large company, which supplied the whole country. The museum thus explains the weight that gypsum production had in the town and keeps objects connected with the trade. Its location beneath the church adds particular interest to the visit and links the industrial content with the historic centre.
