Fira d'Agost of Xàtiva (August Fair)
The Fira d'Agost de Xàtiva is one of the oldest fairs in Spain, held by privilege of King Jaume I since 1250 and declared a Festival of National Tourist Interest. For five days, from 15 to 20 August 2026, the historic centre of Xàtiva fills with fairground attractions, numerous market stalls and countless musical and cultural activities that blend tradition and modernity. Among the main highlights are the "Fira d'Agost" Speed Trophy, the oldest urban motorcycle race in Spain (run without interruption since 1951, every 15 August), and the moving Nit de les Albaes, in which singers parade through the streets on 15 and 20 August. The programme features concerts such as La Fúmiga (15 August, 9:00 PM) and ABBA The New Experience (20 August), fireworks, the Festival de la Cançó, the Juan Francés National Painting Prize and children's activities. Events are spread across various spaces in the city, including the Albereda de Jaume I, Plaça de Calixt III, the Casa de Cultura and the Jardí de la Pau.
