Moors and Christians 2026

Sagunto celebrates its Moors and Christians fiestas from 25 September to 4 October 2026. The programme includes the opening proclamation, a communal stew dinner, the alardo, an offering to the Virgen del Remedio, the despojo del moro, the grand Moorish and Christian parade, embassies and a battle held at the Teatro Romano. Much of the programme takes place in Valencian, within a festive tradition that combines parades, music and historical re-enactments over more than a week. As in other towns across the Comunitat Valenciana with Moors and Christians fiestas, different comparsas or filaes take part in the parades and embassies, wearing period costume to represent the historical story of the Reconquista.
