Hiking Among Mountains 2026
More plans that weekend
This hiking program, organized by the Vall d'Albaida and Alcoià and Comtat Mancomunidades, offers 31 free guided routes in collaboration with local municipalities and hiking clubs. The routes run from September 12 to December 20, 2026, and explore natural, scenic, and heritage spaces in the region.
This is not one walk, it is thirty-one. Entre Muntanyes is a regional hiking programme running from 12 September to 20 December 2026, with free guided routes spread across the Vall d'Albaida and Alcoià-Comtat districts inland from València.
How a programme like this works
It is organised by the Vall d'Albaida and Alcoià-Comtat municipal associations together with local councils and hiking clubs. That means each outing is hosted by a different town and starts from a different point — there is no single base. With programmes of this kind you normally sign up route by route and in advance, since places go by group. The full list with dates, meeting points, distances and difficulty is on the official page, and it is the first thing to check. Assume the walks are led in Spanish or Valencian.
What to bring, by month
Three months of calendar means three different climates. In September the inland midday sun is still fierce: plenty of water, a hat, an early start. By November and December, at 600-800 metres the mornings are cold and it is dark before six, so layers, a head torch and time to spare. Proper hiking shoes throughout — the rock here is limestone and it is slippery even when dry.
Where the routes are
The listing anchors the programme in Bocairent, a fair sample of the country it covers: a medieval old town cut into the rock, and the Covetes dels Moros, the grid of square windows carved into the cliff face. Ontinyent is close by, and the Pou Clar river pools sit just outside it. Without a car this is harder work — regional buses only, and thin at weekends. Our guide to reaching the villages without a car covers the options, and there are more walks in our hiking routes near València.
