The town hall was built in the mid-sixteenth century by order of Saint Francis Borgia, on a plot that belonged to the Egea family. Stones from the Castle of Albalat, which had been ordered to be demolished, were reused to raise it, so the building preserves material from an earlier construction. Inside, the hall of the Consell General survives, the space where the local government met. The building also keeps an important historical archive, that is, its written heritage, which documents the life of the municipality over time. The combination of these elements makes the building a testimony to local administration and to the reuse of materials.
