The Castell d'Olcaf stands about 800 metres west of Olocau del Rey. It rises on a mountain 1,203 metres high, a position that allows it to dominate the historic pass between the Maestrat and Aragon. Remains of walls and towers survive from the castle, marking the layout of the old fortification. The surroundings are a flat-topped hill with wide views over the territory, which helps to explain the strategic value of the site. The altitude and the distance from the village place the complex at a clearly dominant point in the landscape. The remains of wall and towers are today the main testimony of the fortress.
