Castillo de Jérica (La Torreta)
Castle on the rocky ridge above Jérica, with the Torreta keep and wall remains. Views along the Palancia corridor.
Jérica Castle, known as La Torreta, crowns the rocky ridge above the centre of Jérica. The keep, stretches of wall and remains of quarters survive, in a stronghold with views along the Palancia corridor.
History
The fortress guarded the route between the coast and Aragón through the Palancia valley. Its position explains the village plan, clustered below the rock, and the ring of hermitages and chapels around it.
