The Convent dels Pares Servites in Montán was founded after the expulsion of the Moriscos in 1609, when 29 families and 9 Servite monks arrived in the town. The present appearance of the convent dates from 1763 and its architecture is post-baroque and pre-academic. After the Mendizábal confiscation it was dismantled and lost its use as a convent. Later the building was fortified and used by the Carlists in 1836. That succession of uses explains the current state of the complex and its interest as a record of the municipality's history over the centuries.
