The Gothic bell tower of Valencia Cathedral: 207 stone steps up a spiral staircase to 50 metres, with the best 360° panorama over the old town.

Open in Google Maps

Completed in 1429, the Micalet (or Miguelete) is the bell tower of Valencia Cathedral and one of the city's most recognisable symbols. The climb is demanding: 207 steps up a narrow spiral staircase, with no lift, but the reward at the top is a 360° view over the rooftops of the old town, the Lonja, the Mercado Central and, on clear days, even the sea.

The ticket to the tower is separate from the cathedral ticket, so you can climb it without visiting the rest of the building. Wear comfortable shoes and avoid the hottest hours in summer, since the inside of the staircase has no ventilation.
