Iglesia de San Jaime y Santa Ana

The Church of San Jaime and Santa Ana is the most iconic temple in Benidorm, crowning the Canfali hill at the top of the old town, right beside the famous Balcón del Mediterráneo. Its silhouette, topped by an unmistakable blue dome of glazed tiles, has become a true symbol of the city.

History and architecture

Built between 1740 and 1780 in the neoclassical style, the church has a sober Latin-cross floor plan, typical of Valencian religious architecture of the period. But it is the blue dome that draws every eye: its glazed tiles gleam in the Mediterranean sun and guide the gaze from almost anywhere in the old town. Inside, the church honours the Virgen del Sufragio, patron saint of Benidorm.
