At the foot of the castle of Banyeres de Mariola stands the church of Santa María de la Misericordia, the village parish. Its construction began in 1734 in Corinthian Baroque style.
History
The church went up in the 18th century to serve a growing town under the castle. During the Civil War it lost much of its furnishing and after the conflict it was re-furnished with new pieces.
What to see
The portal and the bell tower make up the church's image from the square. Inside, a broad nave in Corinthian order, the highlights are the images and altarpieces replaced in the 20th century.
