Open in Google Maps

The Mirador de las Cuevas del Turco looks across the gorge at chambers cut high in the cliff wall above Chella, in the Canal de Navarrés. They served as communal grain stores, a rare heritage, and they are viewed from the trail, never entered.

The viewpoint

Park in the upper town of Chella and follow the Salto trail to the El Salto viewing point: the caves sit across the gorge, with the waterfall and the canyon in the same frame. The mapped point is the info board on Calle Iglesia Vieja. The board explains the history of the area. Allow about an hour and a half with a calm walk.

How to see them

They are seen, not entered: keep to the marked trail and do not climb toward the chambers. It is an easy family walk, good all year, reached by car from Navarrés. Bring water and sun cover in summer, when the gorge holds the heat.
