The museum has operated since 1979 in the old casa del Pou, a bourgeois house that had been the town hall. It reopened with new displays on 24 March 2015 and in 2018 was recognised as a permanent museum collection. Its holdings bring together 38 religious paintings and still lifes, as well as ceramics, so the visit combines painting and objects. The collection makes it possible to know both the art preserved in the town and the building that houses it, a property with an administrative past before it became a museum. The house itself is therefore part of what makes the visit interesting.
