Parque de coníferas Vicente Alfonso Lorente
A singular 1.2-hectare park dedicated to the botanist Vicente Alfonso Lorente y Asensio, laid out in terraces held by stone retaining walls. It brings together conifers and shade species in a municipality with abundant springs, and it is the town's main green space.
The Vicente Alfonso Lorente conifer park covers 1.2 hectares to the north-west of the built-up area of Jarafuel. It is dedicated to the botanist Vicente Alfonso Lorente y Asensio, whose name it bears. The grounds are arranged in terraces, and each level is held by stone retaining walls that support and delimit the ground. Conifers and other shade species grow over this stepped structure, covering the different planes of the slope. The combination of the stone of the walls and the vegetation gives the park an ordered appearance, in which the changes in level mark the route from one terrace to the next. The whole covers 1.2 hectares to the north-west of the town and presents a terraced layout that defines its character and sets it apart from conventional garden areas.
