Muntanya de les Raboses i Faro de Cullera (Senda de la Lloma, PR-CV 336)
A panoramic loop around the lone Muntanya de les Raboses, the rocky headland that juts into the Mediterranean at Cullera: the Senda de la Lloma (PR-CV 336) climbs past the castle-sanctuary to the radar summit, then drops along the ridge to the lighthouse, with the mouth of the Xúquer and the Albufera rice fields spread out below. A half-day circular route, well waymarked in white and yellow, mixing sea, history and cliff-edge viewpoints.
The Senda de la Lloma (PR-CV 336) is a 14 km circular hike around the Muntanya de les Raboses, the headland in Cullera that drops straight into the Mediterranean. It is moderate, with about 400 m of accumulated climbing and 4 to 5 hours at a steady pace with stops at the viewpoints. The route is waymarked in white and yellow.
The route
You first climb to the castle-sanctuary that crowns the hill, carry on to the summit by the radar, then descend along the ridge to the lighthouse. The path mixes wide track with narrow trail through pine and scrub. There is no single brutal climb: the elevation comes in several short pulls, which is why it works as a half-day outing.
What you will see
From the top you look down on the mouth of the Xúquer, the rice fields running toward the coast and, beyond, the Albufera. The lighthouse perched on the cliff closes the loop. If you stay for lunch in town, this is rice country: see the guide to where to eat the best paella.
Tips
- Wear hiking shoes; there is loose stone on the descent to the lighthouse.
- Carry plenty of water; there are no fountains on the hill and the sun is strong.
- Best from October to May, or early morning in summer.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take?
Between 4 and 5 hours for the full 14 km loop, not counting long stops at the viewpoints and the lighthouse.
Is it suitable for children or beginners?
It is moderate and fairly long. Fine for anyone who walks with some regularity; with small children it gets heavy. Some people just go up to the lighthouse or the castle as a shorter version.
When should I go?
Autumn to spring, on a clear day for the views. In summer, start early: the ridge gives little shade and the heat builds fast.
