Ruta de las 3 Cascadas de Anna
A short but spectacular trail tracing the río de Anna past three waterfalls and turquoise pools, with steps carved into the rock and corners where the ravine closes in around you. Slippery, wet sections make it more demanding than its length suggests: wear sturdy shoes, take it slow, and expect a small (~€2) ticket for the marked path.
This is a 3 km out-and-back trail (moderate) that follows the Anna river through a ravine with three waterfalls and turquoise pools. It takes 1.5 to 2 hours: the ground stays wet almost the whole way and you have to watch your footing. Access to the marked path costs around 2€.
The route
The path drops to the riverbed and the rock-cut stairs appear almost at once. At several points the ravine narrows and you walk right against the wall, with water beside you. This is not an easy stroll: there are slippery sections, roots and polished stone, with about 113 metres of total ascent that the climb back reminds you of.
What you'll see
The three falls are the reason to come, and between them the water slows into green-blue pools. Anna has more lakes and springs, so many people pair the trail with a loop around the town. Wear shoes with firm, grippy soles and bring water and a snack; there are no facilities inside the ravine. Frequently asked questions
How long does it take?
Between 1.5 and 2 hours for the 3 km, at the slow pace forced by the wet sections and the rock stairs.
Is it suitable for children or beginners?
It's short but demanding because of how slippery it is. With children who already walk well and the right footwear it's doable, watched near the water.
When should I go?
Spring and autumn are ideal. Summer is hot and crowded; weekdays and early morning are far more pleasant.
