What to see in Anna
Anna is the water village of the Canal de Navarrés region. Springs, fountains, waterfalls and turquoise pools dot the surroundings, so it's a refreshing, family-friendly destination for escaping the summer heat without straying too far from València.
What to see
The emblem is the Albufera de Anna, a crystal-clear lake with an islet at its centre where you can rent rowing boats and fish. The experience worth planning around, though, is the Water Route, an accessible trail linking the prettiest gorgos (natural pools) and waterfalls: the Gorgo de la Escalera, the Camino de las Fuentes and the Gorgo Catalán, where the river tumbles into an emerald-green pool. In the village, the Palace of the Counts of Cervellón stands out, of Arab origin (12th century) and later remodelled, with a courtyard and details worth the guided tour (book ahead if you can).
Getting there from València
By car it's about 70 km, around an hour via the A-7 and CV-580. Public transport is sparse and awkward, so your own vehicle is by far the most practical option.
Local tip
Bring footwear you don't mind getting wet, and go midweek or early if you can: at the height of summer the gorgos fill up with Valencian families. How do I get to Anna from València?
The most direct way is by car: the A-7 toward Alzira/Albacete, exit 396, then the CV-590 and CV-580 to Anna, about 70 km. Without a car, take the C-2 Cercanías train to Xàtiva and a county bus (Canal de Navarrés service) from there.
How long does it take from València to Anna?
By car, well under an hour (around 50 minutes). By public transport, add the train to Xàtiva (about 40-55 min) plus the county bus, so plan on more than two hours depending on the connection.
What is there to see in Anna?
Mostly water: the Lago de Anna (Albufera de Anna) with its El Surtidor spring, the Gorgo Catalán and Gorgo Gaspar pools, and the Cascada de los Vikingos waterfall. In the old town, the Arab-Mudéjar Palacio de los Condes de Cervellón is worth a look.
