«Lo que el tango se llevó» at Teatre Talia

Tango returns to Valencia's historic centre with «Lo que el tango se llevó», a tribute to Carlos Gardel and Alfredo Le Pera that combines music, dance, poetry and humour on stage at the Teatre Talia, right on Carrer Cavallers.

The show starts from a curious premise: a pianist finds himself in a New York loft with the spirit of Le Pera, the lyricist who wrote the words to Gardel's most remembered songs. From that encounter unfolds a theatrical journey through the lives and work of both men, featuring classics such as «Por una Cabeza», «Mi Buenos Aires Querido», «Soledad» and «Lejana Tierra Mía», closing with «Volver» and «Cuesta Abajo».

The cast is headed by Analía Bueti and Juan Esteban Cuacci, who take the audience through laughter and emotion across tango's golden age.

The performance is on Sunday 4 October 2026 at 12:30 at the Teatre Talia, with tickets from 21 €.

Making the most of a visit to the historic centre

The theatre sits in the heart of the old town, so the afternoon lends itself to combining the show with a walk around the neighbourhood. Just steps away stands the Catedral de Santa María de València (La Seu), and those wanting to see the city from above can head to the Torre del Micalet.
