Sunday markets in Valencia and Castellon

—

In short: València's Rastro runs on Sundays and public holidays from 9:00 to 14:00 in Parque Amelia Chiner, and it skips a holiday that falls immediately before or after a Sunday. The council's Cabanyal street market is on Thursday, 9:00 to 14:00. In Castelló, the Sunday with an official calendar through 30 May 2027 is Mercat de la Taronja, with two Sundays off.

Sundays in the city of Valencia

València city council publishes two standing Sunday street markets. The rest of the open-air trading week falls on weekdays. A race, roadworks or a public holiday next to Sunday can move the day. The council file and the bylaw override any list. The city market guide on this site is at Valencia markets.

The Rastro

The Rastro runs on Sundays and public holidays from 9:00 to 14:00 in Parque Amelia Chiner, at Avinguda de Tarongers and Lluís Peixó, 46010. Phone 96 208 47 36, email scomercio@valencia.es. The street-trading bylaw sets unloading and setup from 7:30 to 8:30, selling from 9:00 to 14:00 and packing up from 14:00 to 15:00. It does not run on a public holiday that falls immediately before or after a Sunday, under article 8.1. The map is on the Infociudad file. More on the fair is at the Rastro page.

The council has already shifted the date when the market shared the avenue with a road race. The week you go, check the notice on valencia.es as well as the ordinary hours.

Plaza Redonda

Plaza Redonda, where Pescadería, Vallanca and Síndico meet, 46001, has stalls Monday to Saturday from 10:00 to 20:00. On Sundays and holidays Visit València publishes an extraordinary market from 8:00 to 14:00. The bylaw separates setup (8:00 to 9:00), selling (9:00 to 14:00) and dismantling (14:00 to 15:00). The two official sources do not print the same start. If you are early, allow for setup and check that Sunday on the council file. Infociudad describes the Sunday market as stamps, coins, music, books, toys and stickers. Lace, thread and ceramics are the square's fixed weekday trade. Visit València lists EMT buses 4, 6, 7, 27, 28, 31, 73, 95 and C1.

Cabanyal is on Thursday

Infociudad lists the Cabanyal street market as a Thursday extraordinary market, 9:00 to 14:00, and 9:00 to 15:00 on the eve of a public holiday. The municipal market is at Justo Vilar s/n, 46011. Indoors it opens Monday to Saturday, 7:30 to 15:00. Thursday is the street. Monday to Saturday is the indoor shop. The council file does not call that extraordinary market on Sunday.

The city bylaw sets ordinary extraordinary markets at 9:00 to 14:00, and 9:00 to 15:00 on the eve of a holiday. Some neighbourhood files print other hours. These are the Infociudad entries with a day and a time:

  • Russafa, Monday, 9:00 to 14:00 (until 15:00 on the eve of a holiday). While the works announced with effect from 22 June 2026 last, the indoor market opens Monday to Friday 7:30 to 14:00 and Saturday 7:30 to 15:00. Building: Barón de Cortés s/n, 46006.
  • Jerusalén, Tuesday, 9:00 to 14:00 (15:00 on the eve). Building at Matemático Marzal 6. Indoors, Monday to Saturday 7:30 to 15:00.
  • Nazaret, Tuesday, 9:00 to 14:00 (15:00 on the eve).
  • El Grao, Wednesday, Carrer Abastos, 46011. The file says 8:00 to 15:00, and 9:00 to 15:00 on the eve of a holiday.
  • Castilla, Wednesday, 9:00 to 14:00. Building at Llombai 4.
  • Benimàmet: the file lists Wednesday 9:00 to 14:00 and says the municipal market stays closed until further notice. Read that notice before you go.
  • Benimaclet, Friday, 9:00 to 14:00 (15:00 on the eve). Published streets: Sant Esperit, Juan Giner, Utiel, Murta, Reverendo Rafael Tramoyeres and Plaça de Benimaclet.
  • Benicalap, Saturday, 9:00 to 14:00 (15:00 on the eve). Building at Miguel Servet 28. Indoors Monday to Saturday 7:30 to 15:00, and Friday 17:00 to 20:00 except August.

A trader who has not set up by 9:00 can lose the right to trade that day. The trade department can change the hours for a period.

Castelló de la Plana

The city council publishes three different appointments.

The Monday market is at the fairground on Avinguda del Mar, on Mondays that are not public holidays, with up to 650 stalls. The bylaw on castello.es sets 8:30 to 14:00. In January 2025 the council moved it to Sunday 5 January because Monday the 6th was Epiphany. When a Monday is a holiday, read the notice.

The Friday market is on Plaça Verge del Carme, Carrer Juan Sebastián Elcano and Avinguda Sant Pere in El Grao, on Fridays that are not holidays, up to 220 stalls, 8:30 to 14:00. If the Friday is a holiday, local feasts aside, the bylaw allows a move to the following Sunday or keeps Friday, after a request from a majority of traders and a council decision.

Mercat de la Taronja is direct citrus sales, on Sundays, in Plaça de María Agustina, Plaça de Fadrell and Plaça de les Pintures de la Gasulla. The edition that opened on 18 October 2026 runs, the council says, until 30 May 2027. There is no trading on Magdalena Sunday, 28 February 2027, or Easter Sunday, 28 March 2027. Hours of 9:00 to 14:00 are on the council notes of 4 November 2025 and 26 April 2026 for those squares. The 18 October 2026 note sets the calendar and does not repeat the clock time. In 2027, confirm it on castello.es. On 30 September 2026 the council published 1.50 euros a kilo for oranges and mandarins, and 2 euros a kilo for grapefruit and limes.

Gandia

The bylaw that Gandia council records in the minutes of 20 July 2020, a municipal document dated 27 October 2020, fixes five markets. A bylaw can be amended. Before a long trip, match the day on gandia.es.

  • Fairground, at the end of the Serpis footbridge, between Parc Ausiàs March and carrers Villalonga and Camí Vell d'Oliva. Saturdays that are not a closing public holiday. Up to 150 stalls. Setup 7:00 to 8:30. Pack-up 14:00 to 15:00.
  • El Grau, Plaça de la Marina and Carrer Mare de Déu Blanqueta. Thursdays that are not closing holidays. Up to 40 stalls. Same setup and pack-up.
  • Roís de Corella, Passeig de les Germanies between Sant Pere and Llarguer. Tuesdays that are not closing holidays. Up to 40 stalls.
  • Beach, Plaça Rosa dels Vents. Sundays, except 25 December and 1 January. From 16 September to 15 June, setup 7:00 to 8:30 and pack-up 14:00 to 15:00.
  • Summer market, Passeig Marítim Neptú by the yacht club. Every day from 15 June to 30 September. Setup 17:00 to 18:00 and pack-up 23:00 to 24:00. Up to 45 stalls. In winter that evening market is off the calendar.

A trader who has not reached the stall by 9:00 loses the right to set up that day. Vehicles stay out during selling. At the fairground the text allows clothing, shoes, costume jewellery and plants and, where the health rules are met, fruit, vegetables, herbs, pickles, churros, charcuterie and a bar.

Towns with no day confirmed here

Xàtiva, Sagunt, Torrent, Vila-real, Borriana, Morella, Benicarló and the other towns in Valencia and Castelló provinces publish their own day. A commercial directory is not a bylaw. If a town is missing above, the day is not confirmed in this guide. Open the town-hall site the week you travel. Local holidays move a market or cancel it, as they already do in València, Castelló and Gandia.

Christmas 2026

The municipal pages opened for this guide do not carry a Christmas 2026 campaign notice separate from the bylaw. What València's bylaw writes is the regime for the traditional Christmas and Epiphany markets, and the department can change it for a period.

  • Mercado Central: setup from 10 December to 5 January, 8:00 to 9:00. Selling from 10 December to 4 January, 9:00 to 22:00. On 24 December, from 9:00 until 2:00 on the 25th. On 5 January, from 9:00 until 5:00 on the 6th.
  • Cabanyal: setup on 3, 4 and 5 January, 8:00 to 9:00. Selling on the 3rd and 4th from 9:00 to 22:00. On 5 January, from 9:00 until 5:00 on the 6th.

Until valencia.es publishes the campaign notice, the bylaw is the reference. It remains a text the council can adjust. A Christmas-market date that is not in that text, or in a later notice, is unconfirmed.

Without a car, cash and arrival time

The EMT lines listed above serve Plaza Redonda. For the Rastro, give a journey planner Avinguda de Tarongers at Lluís Peixó. For Cabanyal, Justo Vilar s/n. The files consulted do not print one bus number for those two. In Castelló, Monday is the fairground on Avinguda del Mar, and the orange Sunday is three central squares a short walk apart. In Gandia, a winter Sunday is Plaça Rosa dels Vents on the beach. The evening promenade market runs from 15 June to 30 September.

The pages opened here do not set a bargaining rule and do not require cash. At Mercat de la Taronja the price per kilo is published. Elsewhere the price is the one on the stall. Take a card and some cash. The bylaw does not guarantee a card reader. In València, a pitch still empty at 9:00 can be lost, and at the Rastro packing up starts at 14:00. In Castelló the published start is 8:30. In Gandia setup ends at 8:30.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Rastro on every Sunday?

The council file says Sundays and public holidays, 9:00 to 14:00, in Parque Amelia Chiner. It does not run on a holiday immediately before or after a Sunday. A race can move the date. The notice goes on valencia.es.

Is the Cabanyal market on Sunday?

Infociudad sets it on Thursday, 9:00 to 14:00, by the market at Justo Vilar. The indoor market opens Monday to Saturday. The published extraordinary market is not the Sunday one.

Is there a Sunday antiques market in Castelló?

On the council pages opened for this guide, the Sunday with a place and a season is Mercat de la Taronja, citrus in three squares, through 30 May 2027, skipping Magdalena and Easter. The large general market is on Monday, on Avinguda del Mar. A fixed-day antiques fair does not appear on those pages. A one-off would be confirmed on castello.es. Until it is posted, it stays unconfirmed.

Does Christmas 2026 have its own market poster yet?

In what was consulted, there is no campaign notice separate from the bylaw. That bylaw places the Mercado Central market from 10 December to 4 January, with late hours on 24 December and 5 January, and the Cabanyal market from 3 to 5 January. The department can change it. Until the official notice, no other date is confirmed.
