Cool venue
The only rooftop in the old town open to anyone bold enough to walk in: you ride a lift 50 metres up inside the Ateneo's grand building and step out onto a lounge terrace hanging over Plaza del Ayuntamiento. Almost no tourist realises you can go up without being a member, which is why it stays a mid-afternoon secret.
Go in through the Ateneo's main door on Plaza del Ayuntamiento and take the lifts up to the top floor; arrive around 7pm to catch the golden light over the rooftops before the cocktail crowd shows up.
