Open in Google Maps

Bocairent is one of those mountain villages that seem carved out of the rock itself. In the Vall d'Albaida, at the foot of the Sierra de Mariola, its old town is a maze of steep, cobbled lanes that climb the hillside, houses huddled together in a medieval scene typical of inland Valencia.

What to see

On the edge of the village is Les Covetes dels Moros: a honeycomb of small cavities cut into a cliff face, set in rows at different heights. The number of hollows and how they're spread across the vertical rock is striking. Within the village itself, it is worth getting lost in the medieval quarter, with its narrow streets, passageways and corners that open onto the valley.

Tips for your visit
