Campanario del convento de los Dominicos
1737 belfry, remains of the Dominican convent founded in 1360. A landmark of the village skyline.
The Dominican convent belfry is the 1737 tower remaining from the convent founded in 1360 in San Mateo. It is seen from all over the old centre and marks, with the archpriestal church, the village skyline.
The tower
It is a Baroque brick and stone tower, with a belfry stage and crown. Of the convent only the tower and cloister traces remain, built into neighbouring houses. The tower photographs well from the square, with the archpriestal church beside it and the old town houses around.
What to see
See it from outside while walking the old centre between the archpriestal church and the walls. The visit is short, with no regular interior access.
