Castillo de Turís (El Castellet)
Small Arab fortress on a long hill, over a Bronze Age settlement and dug in the 2000s.
On a long hill southwest of Turís, El Castellet is a small Arab fortress. It sits on a Bronze Age settlement height and was dug in the 2000s.
History
The height was settled in the Bronze Age and later received the Arab fortress, which guarded the inland passage. Digs in the 2000s arranged the remains and explained the hill phases. The visit needs half an hour with the climb to the hill.
What to see
The Arab fortress remains and the Bronze settlement reading, with views over Turís. Below stands the Natividad church (1777); the La Carencia city needs a car.
Tips for your visit
- Walk up in closed shoes: the hill is stony.
- Pair it with the church in the same morning.
