The monastery was founded by Saint John of Ribera in 1611 for the Discalced Augustinian nuns, and the conventual church is dedicated to the Purísima Concepción and the Beata Inés. The present temple was built between 1804 and 1810 and keeps the tomb of the Beata Inés, made of Carrara and Macael marble. The Discalced Augustinian nuns maintain the cloister, so the building cannot be visited. The history of the complex thus brings together the foundation in the seventeenth century, the construction of the temple at the beginning of the nineteenth and the continuity of the religious community, three moments that explain the character of the building.
