Convento de San Francisco (Casa de la Cultura y Oficina de Turismo)
A Franciscan convent founded in 1573 and rebuilt in 1778, which preserves its two-storey cloister. Today it houses the Casa de la Cultura, with temporary exhibitions and other activities, and the Ayora Tourist Office. It is the main cultural facility of the valley's capital.
The convent of San Francisco in Ayora dates from 1573, and in 1778 it was rebuilt, so that its present fabric preserves the mark of both phases. Of the complex, the two-storey cloister is retained and still forms part of the building. Today the property has a cultural and service use: it houses the Casa de la Cultura and the Ayora Tourist Office. The Casa de la Cultura hosts temporary exhibitions and other activities, while the office attends to visitors arriving in the municipality. The conversion of the old convent into a public facility makes it possible to preserve the cloister and at the same time give it an everyday use.
