Calle de la Marquesa de Zenete
A street documented since 1550 and described by the geographer Cavanilles as superior to any in the kingdom, without excepting the capital. It is ten metres wide and 376 metres long, and preserves several noble houses, some with modernist façades, within the historic centre of Ayora.
The calle de la Marquesa de Zenete is documented from 1550, a date that confirms its presence in the urban layout of Ayora. Much later, the geographer Cavanilles described it as superior to any street in the kingdom, without excepting the capital, a judgement that measures its standing at the time. Its dimensions support that impression: it is ten metres wide and 376 metres long. The street forms part of the historic centre of Ayora, where it preserves several noble houses, some of them with modernist façades. The whole allows the visitor to follow an old axis in which the original line of the street coexists with the later alterations of its buildings.
