La Lonja
A building erected in 1892 on the site of the old town hall, in the centre of the town, at the start of the Plaza Mayor. Its slender metal structure is modernist in style and is one of the most singular examples of iron architecture in the interior of the province of Valencia.
The Lonja in Ayora was built in 1892 on the plot occupied by the old town hall. The building stands in the centre of the town, right at the start of the Plaza Mayor, so that it occupies a central position in the urban layout. Its metal structure, with graceful lines, belongs to the modernist style. That combination of iron and modernist design makes the Lonja one of the most singular examples of iron architecture in the interior of the province of Valencia. The work thus replaced the old town hall building and gave the historic centre a building of a new construction technique.
