The Cova dels Cavalls is a prehistoric cave with rock paintings in the Valltorta ravine. It was discovered in 1917 by Albert Roda, and that same year Hugo Obermaier and Paul Wernert came to study it. The cave was declared a historic-artistic monument in 1924 and later a World Heritage Site in 1998. These recognitions reflect the importance of its paintings within the rock art of the Mediterranean arc. The site is preserved in its original setting in the ravine and forms part of the landscape in which the paintings were made.
