Open in Google Maps

The Devesa del Saler is a long ribbon of Mediterranean woodland stretching for around 10 km between the Albufera lagoon and the sea, within the Albufera Natural Park. It's an easy nature outing right next to the city of València: pine groves, dunes and damp hollows (malladas) separate the lake from the beach, threaded by flat trails where it's easy to spot squirrels and birds among the trees.

What to see

The Devesa fits a mosaic of landscapes into very little distance. Stands of Aleppo pine shade much of the route, while the dune belt and the malladas (humid depressions between the dunes) form a distinct ecosystem that acts as a natural border between the lagoon and the Saler beach. It's a good spot for birdwatching and for seeing how lake, forest and sand sit together.
