Playa de la Garrofera
A wild dune beach in the heart of the Devesa del Saler, undeveloped and with a naturist area. A corner of nature just a few minutes from the city.
Playa de la Garrofera is one of those scenes that seem impossible so close to a major city: a wild, undeveloped stretch of sand protected by a belt of dunes, in the very heart of the Devesa del Saler. There is no promenade and no rows of beach bars here, just golden sand, pine forest and the murmur of the Mediterranean. It forms part of the natural surroundings of l'Albufera and also preserves a naturist area, making it a peaceful retreat just minutes from València.
The atmosphere
The great appeal of la Garrofera is its untouched character. The dunes, covered in native vegetation, separate the beach from the Mediterranean woodland and create a sense of seclusion even at the height of summer. The general stretch has a relaxed, family-friendly feel, while the naturist area offers a more private space. It is ideal for anyone seeking nature, quiet and a swim away from the crowds.
Facilities
As a natural beach, facilities here are minimal. It pays to come prepared:
- Bring water, shade and some food, as there is little infrastructure.
- There are parking areas near the pine forest.
- Stick to the wooden boardwalks so as not to damage the dunes.
Tips for your visit
- It is easy to reach by car along the Saler road; combine it with a walk through the Devesa.
- Wear comfortable footwear: you have to cross the pines and dunes on foot.
- Take all your rubbish with you to help preserve this protected space.
