Ermita dels Peixets (Ermita del Miracle dels Peixets)

Facing the Mediterranean, on the right bank of the Carraixet ravine, the Ermita dels Peixets is a small seaside church in the neo-Gothic style, built in 1901. It stands on the spot where tradition places the miracle of the fish of 1348, and its white silhouette set against the sea has made it one of the most charming and photographed corners of the Alboraya countryside.

History and legend

The chapel commemorates the well-known miracle of the fish, an episode that popular devotion sets on the Alboraya coast in the 14th century. The present building, rectangular in plan and neo-Gothic in feel, was raised in the early 20th century to honour that story and shelter the faith of a community closely tied to both the sea and the fertile huerta.

What to see

Its appeal lies in its simplicity: a compact white volume standing almost at the water's edge. The real spectacle is the setting, with the ravine reaching the Mediterranean and the endless horizon of the sea as a backdrop.
