The church is already mentioned in 1340, although the present building dates from 1560 and is the work of Joan Matalí. It keeps a Renaissance doorway of 1577-1578 and Baroque reforms from the eighteenth century. The bell tower rests on an Arab tower, an element that refers to earlier stages of the site. It is declared a Site of Cultural Interest, which recognises its value within the religious heritage of Guadassuar. The combination of the Renaissance doorway, the Baroque reforms and the tower of Arab origin makes the building a witness to several periods.
