Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación
A church from 1757, with a single nave with side chapels between buttresses, a communion chapel and a high choir. Its decoration mixes Baroque and neoclassical elements, and the bell tower is later. It occupies the site of the old mosque, and two paintings from the school of Juan de Juanes flank the main altar.
The Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Encarnación dates from 1757. Its decoration mixes Baroque and neoclassical elements, and the bell tower is later. The temple was raised where the old mosque stood, in the Pla de Fossar, so the building occupies a plot with an earlier history. Inside, two paintings from the school of Juan de Juanes flank the main altar. These elements allow several construction stages to be recognised, along with a part of the pictorial heritage linked to the temple. The origin of the plot and the paintings kept inside give the temple an interest that goes beyond its fabric.
