Muralla de Benisanó y portales
Remains of the wall that defended the town, raised between the 13th and 14th centuries, before the castle. It formed a circular enclosure reinforced by towers, and three portals survive: that of Liria, attached to the castle, and those of Bétera and Valencia, through which the roads from those towns arrived.
The wall of Benisanó was raised between the 13th and 14th centuries, before the castle. It formed a circular enclosure reinforced by towers. Three portals survive from that complex: that of Liria, attached to the castle, and those of Bétera and Valencia. The names of the portals recall the roads that arrived from those towns and help reconstruct the relationship between the town and its surroundings. The surviving remains are today the main testimony of the defensive system that preceded the castle. The three portals and the surviving wall sections make it possible to reconstruct the line of the walled enclosure.
