Museu Temps de Dinosaures
A palaeontology museum in the old town, next to Sant Miquel church, devoted to the dinosaurs unearthed across the Els Ports region. It displays a life-size reconstruction of Morelladon beltrani, a species described in 2015, plus remains of the giant sauropod Garumbatitan morellensis, described in 2023. One of the largest Cretaceous fossil collections in Spain.
In 2023 palaeontologists described Garumbatitan morellensis, a giant sauropod found in the area, and its remains are on show at the Museu Temps de Dinosaures, right in the old town of Morella, next to Sant Miquel church.
What to see
The most talked-about piece is the life-size reconstruction of Morelladon beltrani, a sail-backed species described in 2015 from fossils dug up across Els Ports. Around it sit bones, teeth and reconstructions that place Morella among the great Cretaceous fossil collections in Spain, back when this land was a coastal plain roamed by dinosaurs.
