There's no direct train to Morella. By car, take the A-7 and CV-10 to Sant Mateu, then the N-232. By public transport, ride the train to Castelló de la Plana and pick up the Autos Mediterráneo bus there, which only runs Monday to Friday.
How long does València to Morella take by car?
About 2 hours 10 minutes for roughly 170 km. The last stretch on the N-232 is a winding mountain road, so it's worth not rushing.
What is there to see in Morella?
The hilltop castle and the walls with the Sant Miquel towers are the first things you notice. Inside town, look for the Basílica Arciprestal de Santa María la Mayor, the Sant Francesc convent and the Temps de Dinosaures museum; outside the walls there's the Santa Llúcia aqueduct and the Sant Marc hermitage.
Is Morella worth it for a trip with kids?
Yes. It's one of the best-preserved walled towns in the area, and you can cover it on foot in a day. Kids usually like climbing up to the castle and the dinosaur museum; just know the streets are steep.
