Open in Google Maps

La Torrecilla is an Almohad rammed-earth tower on the hill above Chelva. It is the last standing remain of the Muslim defences of the town, visible from the old quarter.

History

The rammed-earth tower belongs to the Muslim defences of Chelva, from Almohad times. It outlived the loss of the castle and walls as an isolated piece on the hill.

What to see

The tower and the views of the town and the Turia from the hill. Pair the climb with the historic quarters, the Ángeles church and the Vizcondal palace.

From the hill you read the defensive set: below lie the palace over the castle and the three historic quarters by the Turia.
