How do you get to El Palmar from València?
By bus: EMT lines 24 and 25 (Porta de la Mar - El Saler - El Palmar), on the city's standard ticket. By car: the CV-500, the Saler road, which runs along the Albufera lagoon. No train.
How long does it take to reach El Palmar?
By car, about 20-30 minutes from central València via the CV-500. By bus, closer to 40 minutes, depending on stops and frequency. Expect more traffic on the Saler road at weekends.
What is there to see in El Palmar?
The pier, where the boat trips on the Albufera set off, is what most people picture. Worth a stop too: the Tío Aranda barraca (a traditional thatched farmhouse), the Niño Jesús del Huerto church, known locally as the Jesuset de l'Hort, and, by the lagoon, the Gola del Pujol viewpoint and the Racó de l'Olla interpretation centre.
Is El Palmar worth visiting with kids?
Yes. The boat trip on the Albufera usually goes down well with younger kids, especially at sunset, and the lakeside viewpoints are an easy walk. It's also where Valencian rice comes from, so there's a good reason to stop for a paella or an all i pebre.
