Antiga Cisterna d'Aldaia
A 14th-century cistern that once supplied the historic centre with water, fed by the Benàger-Faitanar irrigation channel and in use until 1960. It stood on the old Carrer del Baló and survives today built into the town hall on Plaça de la Constitució, a relic of the huerta's old hydraulic system.
Aldaia drank from this same cistern from the 14th century right up to 1960. The Antiga Cisterna d'Aldaia supplied water to the village's historic centre and was fed by the Benàger-Faitanar channel, one of the irrigation arteries of L'Horta Oest. A bit of history
The reservoir stood on the old Carrer del Baló and belonged to the huerta's ancient hydraulic system, the same one still managed by the acequias of València's Water Tribunal. The fact that it stayed in service until 1960 says a lot about daily life here before the modern mains: water from the channel was stored, left to settle and drawn out by hand for everyday use.
