Cala de l'Almadrava
A sand-and-rock cove in the north of the town, in the Rincón de Loix area at the foot of Serra Gelada. About 100 metres long, with clean, crystalline waters, it is prized by divers and snorkellers for its rich seabeds. Its wilder character contrasts with Benidorm's urban beaches.
The name gives away its past: an almadrava was the tuna-fishing trap once set along these shores. Today the Cala de l'Almadrava is a sand-and-rock cove about 100 metres long in the north of Benidorm, in the Rincón de Loix area at the foot of Serra Gelada.
What to do
Its clean, crystalline waters have made it well known among divers and snorkellers for the richness of the seabed. It is one of the few coves in Benidorm where a natural feel still survives, unlike the urban beaches.
For your visit
Bring a mask and water shoes, since part of the bottom is rocky. If you like this kind of spot, the nearby Cala del Tio Ximo has a similar character.
