Cascada de Domeño
Aquatic Turia descent by old Domeño, between Calles and Losa del Obispo. Vertical with access zipline (V4 A2 III), for equipped canyoners only.
The Cascada de Domeño is a Turia-side waterfall by the old village of Domeño, on the Calles river trails above the Loriguilla reservoir. Canyoning guides list it as a very aquatic vertical, reached by an access zipline over the Turia channel, and grade it V4 A2 III. Like Otonel, this is a technical descent, not a family waterfall: the cascade is reached by rope, not by a viewpoint path.
Access
The site lies between Calles and Losa del Obispo. From the Domeño viewpoint at kilometre 60, or from the tail of the Loriguilla reservoir at kilometre 62, a road drops to the Loriguilla dam, and a track continues to the base of the cascade, with parking just before the hydroelectric plant bridge. Part of the approach runs on service tracks, so expect gates and restricted sections. The return crosses the river to the car, or follows a path to a bridge 200 metres downstream when the Turia runs strong.
Safety
- Technical descent only: ropes, suits and canyoning experience are required, plus the access zipline.
- Check the Turia flow before entering; the river crossing on the way back is the crux in high water.
- You need a car, and the area floods: one trail report notes the zone under water after rain.
- Pair it with the Charco Azul or the village of Chulilla, further down the same gorge.
